MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

 

 

Becoming a Member at Kenton Valley is easy.

Membership is open to any person from the age of 10 years.
(
For handgun training juniors must be over 14 years).

The club encourages prospective members to visit and under supervision try the sport AT NO COST and enjoy a sample program put together so visitors may use handguns, rifles and shotguns.

If as the prospective member you wish to go forward with membership you will be given the current forms to complete.

On acknowledgement from the SA Police Firearms Branch you will be placed in a ‘Firearms Training and Safety Awareness Course’, the course, run by the club instructor will prepare and teach you to handle firearms in a safe and competent manner and the points of law applicable to firearm ownership.

On successful completion of the course you will become a probationary member of the club. Upon completion of 6 matches, on the range with other club members, you may be nominated as a full member.

The result of your training and exam will be sent to the Firearms Branch for issuing of your firearms licence.

Firearm licenses are available for different firearm categories & purpose of use (POU);

Category A, B & H are the categories of firearms covered by the licence. These include Air pistol & rifle, rimfire rifle, centrefire rifle, shotgun and handguns. (for further information contact the club)

Purpose of Use 1; is for Club use.

This is the POU issued on completion of the course described above.
